Lev, Creative Director
Mikayla Lev is a peace builder, artist, filmmaker and creative visionary.
She is the founder of the ICU. She co-directed and produced Living
in Conflict (livinginconflict.com) a feature length documentary
about the lives of five Israeli and Palestinian individuals, which
premiered at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival and the Montreal
World Film Festival in 2002. In 2003, She returned to Israel and
Palestine as the videographer for “Music for Little People”
to help them create a children’s CD with Israeli and Palestinian
kids and famous musicians around the country. Mikayla has filmed
in many locations around the world including Japan, Mongolia, China
and Brazil. In 2002 she was sponsored as a cinematographer to film
at the World Social Forum in Brazil, which aired on Worldlink TV.
In 2000, She traveled to China as the sound person on "Beginning
Anew," award winning filmmaker Thomas Luchinger’s documentary
about Vietnamese Buddhist Thich Nhat Hahn’s journey to China.
In addition, She worked for 2 years as a videographer for Urban
Arts, an organization for at risk youth in Oakland, California.
In 1998, She raised the funds and was the co-coordinator for a large
public art Peace Wall project with 20 Palestinian and Israeli youth
in Jerusalem.
She is a graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts where
she studied Film and Video and holds an undergraduate degree from
the University of Vermont and the Tel Aviv University in English
Literature and Political Science.
Sara T. Schwartz, Executive Director
Sara T. Schwartz holds an Honors Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton
University in Canada, where she majored in film documentary. For
the past six years, she has been working as a Development professional
in the non-profit community, and specializes in business development.
In this period Sara has raised over $6 million for various non-profit
organizations and provided strategic planning, financial analysis
and strategy implementation that has been critical to the recovery
of organizations on the brink of closure. Currently, she is the
Executive Director of A Traveling Jewish Theatre. She moved to San
Francisco from Toronto where she worked as Director of Marketing
for Artsmarketing Services Inc., a direct marketing firm. Prior
to that position, she worked at Canada's National Arts Centre where
she raised and oversaw the $1.2 million Annual Fund.
Her producing credits include five large-scale theatre productions
in Ottawa, Canada and several short journalistic documentaries.
She is also the founder and former Executive Director of Creative
Juices, an arts camp and after-school program. Sara produced and
directed The Calling, a film documentary on the topic of religion
in a secular society.
